Dar Announces Inquiry Against Foreign Ministry Scandal

The federal government has formed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate alleged misuse and irregularities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ document verification system.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar took notice of a media report concerning the system.
Petroleum Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh will head the committee, while Law Secretary Raja Naeem Akbar and Special Finance Secretary Qamar Sarwar Abbasi will serve as members.
The committee will investigate any misuse or irregularities in the apostille(signature authenticity) and document verification process. It will also examine the role of courier services and determine whether any Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials were involved.
The committee will recommend reforms to improve the system and submit its findings and recommendations within two weeks.
The Additional Secretary (Admin) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide the committee with full support and access to all relevant records and material.
