Govt Announces Deadline for Expansion of M-4 Motorway

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to accelerate work on the expansion of the Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad section of the M-4 Motorway from four to six lanes.
Chairing a meeting on development projects in the NHA Central Region, the minister instructed authorities to complete the six-lane expansion by December 15.
Officials briefed the meeting on progress across various motorway and national highway projects. Aleem Khan directed the NHA to meet the prescribed completion targets and speed up work on ongoing schemes.
The minister also reviewed progress on the Lodhran-Multan Expressway and directed authorities to expedite preliminary work on the Lala Musa Bypass on the N-5 National Highway. He said rehabilitation work on the Baba Farid Bridge over the River Sutlej would also begin soon.
The meeting also discussed projects to connect the Layyah and Taunsa bridges with adjoining highways in South Punjab. Aleem Khan directed authorities to ensure high-quality construction of the Phool Nagar Interchange on the N-5 and incorporate modern requirements into new infrastructure projects.
He called for modern lighting, quality infrastructure and properly developed rest areas on new highways. He also directed authorities to use the Islamabad-Murree Expressway as a model for infrastructure development.
